Our library is a partner (a Registrar-type user) for the Perma.cc service, under the name "Lucian Blaga" Central University Library of Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
The Perma.cc service ensures the archiving of web pages/ electronic documents for research purposes, for their citation and retrieval even if the original source (the original URL) has disappeared.
The Perma.cc project was developed by the Library Innovation Lab at the Harvard Law Library. This service is dedicated to long-term preservation, has an intervention plan and is open source.
The Perma.cc service is free of charge for any individual user within the limit of 10 archived resources. In order to archive more resources, a form of payment can be used (see https://perma.cc/settings/usage-plan) or free of charge through a partner library.
CUL Cluj offers this service for FREE and allows users to archive, manage and annotate an unlimited number of scientific electronic resources, which will receive a short link for citation, can create multiple users for access to the same folder and receive support from the library.
The steps to become a beneficiary of the Perma.cc service:
- fill out a service request form
- you will be contacted for planning an online training meeting
- a sponsored user account (recommended for any individual user) or organization (faculty, journal, project) and a user affiliated to the organization (for group work) will be created.
